Sources of Power

* Alexander Cockburn (Column Left, Oct. 29) criticizes coal- and nuclear-fueled power plants. Maybe he will tell us what will be used to generate electricity when today’s choice of fuel, natural gas, runs out, which is as sure as death and taxes. Presently, in the U.S., hydro is 9% and is being criticized environmentally, and other renewables are less than 1% of the total electricity generated. Then again, maybe it is not a concern today, as natural gas will not be expended in our lifetime or in the next 100 years or so! Oil will probably last somewhat longer.
