Rain Moves Quickly Through the Area
A storm from the Gulf of Alaska moved swiftly through Ventura County early Wednesday, dropping a small amount of rain and making way for a sunny and warmer remainder of the week.
The rainfall began at sunrise and lasted until midmorning, said Jeff House, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecasts for The Times.
Nearly a quarter-inch fell in the mountains above Ojai and 0.12 of an inch was recorded in Port Hueneme. Ventura, Oxnard, Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks received 0.04 to 0.08 of an inch.
Santa Ana winds were expected to kick up today with high temperatures on the coast and inland reaching into the 70s. The winds will die down Friday but high temperatures inland could soar into the 80s, House said.
Sunny weekend skies were also forecast. Low temperatures are expected to be in the 40s for the remainder of the week.
