Dornan Defeat Stirs Passions

Share

If there exists a category for biased political election reporting, The Times achieved a Pulitzer Prize-level winner with the headlines Nov. 4: “Sanchez Crushes Dornan” and “Sanchez: Latina Swamps Dornan in Rematch.”

It has been apparent since the previous election’s voting scandal that Sanchez’s take-no-prisoners defeat of Dornan vastly outweighed her desire to merely win any election.

Her bitter statements on election night, “The mushroom cloud that erupts tonight and rises tonight is over the ashes of Bob Dornan” and “Adios, Bob Dornan,” reveal her true character and xenophobic position: confirmation that politics has evolved from mudslinging insults to nuclear warfare. I suggest the Democrat-described “darling of the Beltway” remember that a Phoenix “arises from the ashes” as well.

It appears from Bob Dornan’s post-election comments that humble pie is not any more palatable even with the second helping. I think perhaps it is an acquired taste.

Perhaps the person whom Bob Dornan Jr. should be telling to “show some class” is not the Matt Fong supporter who chanted during his father’s speech Nov. 3 but his own father.

For Robert K. Dornan to state that he will never publicly concede defeat to Loretta Sanchez is the ultimate no-class ending for a truly no-class performer.

I am deeply saddened that Bob Dornan lost the 46th District congressional election.

Unfortunately, it was impossible to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the number of illegal votes was greater than Loretta Sanchez’s margin of victory in 1996.

It is a sad commentary when we as Americans question the validity of our elections, and are immediately called racists, bigots and anti-immigrant.

On the contrary, we question these elections to ensure fairness and know for certain that everyone’s vote is counted. To some of us young conservatives who aspire to run for office, Dornan is a role model.

Robert Kenneth Dornan still doesn’t get it. He has met the enemy and the enemy is “he!”
