Slain Woman Found in Burned Apartment
Investigators are looking for the killer of a 26-year-old woman who was found dead Tuesday in a Westlake apartment that had been set on fire, apparently to cover up the crime, police said.
Los Angeles police spokesman Jason Lee said Kendra Parker sustained blunt force trauma to the head before a 5:17 a.m. fire at a five-story building in the 600 block of South Carondelet Street.
Firefighters doused the flames that engulfed a walk-in closet on the third floor, city fire spokesman Bob Collis said. He said Parker’s body was found in the living room.
“Residents of the building reported hearing a discussion in the victim’s apartment prior to the discovery of the fire,” Lee said.
