Gene Autry, the beloved American icon who died in October, will first and foremost be remembered as the Singing Cowboy. In celebration of his life and of his museum’s 10th anniversary, a restored 16mm print of Autry’s 1941 film “Back in the Saddle” will screen at the museum’s Wells Fargo Theater on Saturday and Sunday.

The annual Festival of Jewish Artisans kicks off with a “Reggae Hanukkah” concert, a unique fusion of Jewish and West Indian musical styles performed by a 20-member ensemble. After the concert, the festival opens for business with works by ceramists, silversmiths, photographers and others on sale.

Honest Abe Lincoln in his Quaker-style beard and stovepipe hat will greet visitors, review Civil War troops, tell stories and pose for pictures during the Civil War Living History Weekend at the Nixon Library, which will be charging no admission all weekend. The event will include battle reenactments, war strategy games, period music and food at the Mason-Dixon Diner.

The Getty owns one of America’s largest collections of books and manuscripts by El Lissitzky, the influential Russian avant-garde artist. The staff has drawn out 100 works for “Monuments of the Future: Designs by El Lissitzky,” including futurist book designs, abstract paintings, Soviet realist photographs and personal letters. It opens today at the Getty Research Institute for the History of Art and the Humanities.
