Rick Tocchet had a goal and two assists, and infrequent scorers Teppo Numminen, Brad Isbister and Dallas Drake also netted goals Wednesday night as the Phoenix Coyotes defeated the Vancouver Canucks, 4-2, at Phoenix to run their unbeaten streak to nine games.

The victory, the Coyotes’ third in a row, left them tied with the idle Dallas Stars for the lead in the Pacific Division. It also denied Canuck Coach Mike Keenan the 500th victory of his career.

Jeremy Roenick had three assists and Keith Tkachuk two before Keenan pulled goaltender Garth Snow with 15:41 to play. Snow gave up four goals on 25 shots.

“This was probably Jeremy’s best game of the year,” said Tkachuk, who plays left wing to Roenick’s center on the first line. “When you have a guy like that playing that way, you are going to win a lot of games.”

Washington 4, Toronto 1--Jan Bulis scored his first two goals of the season and assisted on another, leading the Capitals at Washington.

Bulis sat out the Capitals’ first 13 games because of an ankle injury, and this was only his third game back. It was the first multi-goal effort of his career, and the three points also were a career high.

He assisted Richard Zednik on the Capitals’ first goal and scored the next two to complete Washington’s three-goal second period. Zednik, who had a goal and an assist, returned after sitting out 10 games because of a bruised shoulder.

Detroit 6, Edmonton 2--Steve Yzerman had two goals and an assist to lead the Red Wings at Edmonton.

Yzerman, Aaron Ward and Vyacheslav Kozlov scored in the first period and the Red Wings, who had lost two games in a row, never looked back.
