Lightweights Set for Main Event
State lightweight champion Gustavo Tapia of Westminster faces Rogelio Castaneda Jr. of Sacramento in tonight’s 10-round main event at the Irvine Marriott. Tapia (6-6) has lost five fights by split decision. Castaneda has won 10 of 12 bouts.
In the semi-main event, featherweight Memo Moreno (4-2, two knockouts) of Beaumont faces Naoya Hirahara (4-2, two knockouts) of Tokyo. The featured undercard bout is a four-rounder between junior featherweight Eddie Utorov of Russia and Daisuke Nishiwaki of Japan.
The six-fight card will begin at 7:30 p.m. and it will be shown live on the Internet for a pay-per-view price of $9.95. Users can log on at https://www.IPPV.com. Rich Marotta will be the announcer.
Promoter Roy Englebrecht announced he will be back at the Marriott next year for six shows beginning with a card on Feb. 2.
