Third-quarter earnings at International Remote Imaging Systems, a leading manufacturer of in-vitro diagnostic imaging systems, fell by more than half for the period that ended Sept. 30, compared with the year-ago quarter.
Net income was $94,048, or 1 cent per diluted share. In the year-ago quarter, earnings were $214,381, or 3 cents per diluted share. Revenues for the period were basically flat, at just over $7.1 million.
For the nine months ended Sept. 30, the company suffered a loss of $113,236, compared with earnings of $29,636 for the same period in 1997.
An increase in revenue in the company’s urinalysis and small devices segments was offset by declining sales in genetic analyzers, the company said.
