Men’s basketball

Murphy, a junior transfer from Glendale Community College in Arizona, has scored 27 points in Fullerton’s first two games.

A 6-foot guard, Murphy had 11 points in the season opener at Kansas State and 16 against San Diego State Saturday. He is eight of nine on free throws and five of 12 on three-point shots. He shot 51% from three-point range last season for Glendale.

THIS WEEK

Men’s basketball: Unbeaten Pepperdine will test the Titans at 7 p.m. Saturday in Titan Gym. The Waves won last year’s game at Pepperdine, 65-61. Fullerton defeated San Diego State in its home opener Saturday to even its record at 1-1. Ike Harmon returned to the lineup after missing the season-opening loss at Kansas State. Harmon was still at less than full strength because of a sprained ankle, but he scored 14 points in 18 minutes.

Women’s basketball: Fullerton hosts Georgia State at 2 p.m. Sunday in Titan Gym. The Titans are 1-1 after losing Saturday to Cal State Northridge, 75-57. Point guard Andrea Thieme leads the team in scoring with an average of 17.5 points.
