Vigilantes, 3 Other WBL Teams Fold

The Western Baseball League announced Wednesday that the Mission Viejo Vigilantes, along with franchises in Bend, Ore., Grays Harbor, Wash., and Oxnard, have folded.

Team president Pat Elster told league officials last month that the team was for sale. At that time, league president Bruce Engel said the team owes the league between $12,000 and $15,000, and the city of Mission Viejo has sued for $135,000 in back rent.

The league also announced that the Zion Pioneerzz in St. George, Utah, will join the league in 1999.
