Mission College Offering Program in Elder Care
Responding to recent U.S. Department of Labor statistics that point to a growing need for workers in the senior care field, Mission College in Sylmar is providing a special program to train students in caring for the elderly.
Twelve students recently completed the In-Home Elder Care Program, in which they were specially trained to care for Alzheimer’s and other dementia patients. The graduates studied nutrition, medication administration, home safety, communication skills and death and dying issues.
