CLU to Hold Science Expo

Share

High School students and teachers may explore the intricacies of mathematics or challenge themselves in a mini-chemistry Olympiad at a math and science expo scheduled for Veterans Day at Cal Lutheran University.

The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Nov. 11. In the morning, several seminars will be held for teachers and students. In the afternoon, students will compete in events that, in part, test their understanding and speed solving equations and answering questions about biology.

All students are welcome, but the event is designed for students with a 3.0 GPA or higher who have an interest in math and science.

* “The Hidden Treasures of Mathematics,” a contest in which students will solve algebra, geometry and trigonometry problems .

The cost is $5 per person, which includes lunch and some supplies needed for the contests. Space is limited to the first 200 reservations. For more information, call Jim Wolf, director of the university’s Science Outreach program, at 493-3385.
