Gartlan Steps Down as Coach of Zodiac

Mike Gartlan has resigned as coach of the Orange County Zodiac soccer team to pursue other business opportunities, club officials announced Monday.

Gartlan, who took over the coaching duties this past season after originally joining the team as a player in 1997, led the Zodiac to a 17-11 record in A-League play.

He guided the team to its first appearance in the playoffs, losing to Seattle in the first round. The Zodiac also reached the third round of the U.S. Open Cup, where they lost, 4-1, to Dallas of MLS.
