An Alabama truck driver making a local delivery was robbed early Thursday by a gunman impersonating a police officer, authorities said.

The driver, Humberto Santiago, was stopped by what he believed was a police car at 2:40 a.m. near San Bernardino Road and Irwindale Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Steve Sciacca said.

Santiago, 32, told authorities he was approached by a man wearing a tan-colored, police-style uniform, a gun belt, a hat and a badge.

The man asked to see Santiago’s driver’s license. Then he demanded money and valuables, Sciacca said. The driver handed over about $50 and two handguns, Sciacca said.

The gunman then fled in a car that had the word “security” emblazoned on the driver’s door. He is described by authorities as 20 to 25 years old, nearly six feet and 160 pounds with blond hair and brown eyes.
