Pacifica was the preseason favorite to win the Garden Grove League, but the Mariners have struggled against decent competition. They were defeated by Woodbridge, 27-7, in Week 1 and by La Mirada, 45-21, last week. La Quinta’s most impressive victory came over Santiago, and that came two weeks ago in the game’s closing minutes.
