Poly 20, North Hollywood 14--Steve Smith scored three touchdowns and ran for a conversion, leading the Parrots (2-4, 2-1) over the Huskies (1-5, 1-2) at North Hollywood.
Smith, who rushed for 111 yards in 20 carries, returned the opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown and scored on runs of one and 10 yards. His one-yard touchdown run with 9:28 remaining in the half gave Poly the lead for good, 12-7.
Trailing, 20-7, North Hollywood quarterback Billydee Payne hit Carlos Jacobo for a 23-yard touchdown with 8:10 to play. Payne drove the Huskies to Poly’s 21-yard line as time expired but the team could not get off a final play.
Matthew Hicks of North Hollywood rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown in 22 carries.
