A 43-year-old Simi Valley man died Saturday afternoon after sustaining severe injuries in a crash the night before in which he lost control of his motorcycle and ran into a pickup truck, police said.

David Mann was pronounced dead about 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Simi Valley Hospital, where he had been taken after Friday night’s crash, according to the Ventura County medical examiner’s office. Mann had not been wearing a motorcycle helmet as required by law, police said.

Before the crash, which occurred about 10:15 p.m. at Sequoia and Los Angeles avenues, Mann was seen weaving in and out of traffic, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Anthony Anzilotti said.

Mann was transported from the scene with major head trauma. While at the hospital, he had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, police said.

Mann, who was self-employed, is survived by a brother, Mike Mann, who also lives in Simi Valley. Funeral arrangements were being handled by Reardon Simi Valley Mortuary. An autopsy was scheduled for today.
