Autopsy Reveals Death to Be Homicide, Not Overdose

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has ruled that a man who died in July was a victim of homicide rather than a drug overdose as authorities initially believed.
Ruben Zayas, 37, died of head trauma, according to autopsy results, Deputy Michael Irving said.
Zayas was discovered semiconscious July 22 in his home in the 11200 block of Redberry Street, Irving said.
He died two days later in a hospital, officials said.
Authorities first attributed his death to a drug overdose. But the coroner’s office released a report Sunday saying that Zayas died from a blow to the head.
An investigation has been launched into the death, authorities said.
