Panthers Cleared on CBS Claim
The NFL has cleared the Carolina Panthers of a CBS television claim that the team violated league rules by not reporting quarterback Steve Beuerlein’s injured throwing shoulder.
League spokesman Greg Aiello informed the Panthers on Friday that the league had looked into the report and determined it lacked merit.
The network questioned Sunday whether Beuerlein separated a shoulder Oct. 11 against Dallas. The network also said the Panthers (0-6) knew about the alleged injury but withheld the information as Carolina prepared for last week’s game against Tampa Bay.
Beuerlein said the injury was nothing more than a sprain. He completed his first 12 passes and 19 of 20 jon the way to a 22-of-32 performance. Beuerlein has not missed any practice time since the injury.
