Bakersfield 42, Pierce 0--The Renegades took advantage of four Pierce turnovers in a WSC Northern Division game at Bakersfield.
Pierce suited up only 29 players. The first half was played in a driving rainstorm.
Bakersfield (4-2, 2-0) recovered a fumble by quarterback Calvin Zinck on the Pierce two-yard-line five minutes into the game. Four plays later, Jermaine Ervin ran three yards for a touchdown.
The Renegades scored three touchdowns in the second quarter, two set up by low snaps that punter Tyler Brennan of Pierce could not handle. Ervin ran one yard for a touchdown with 5:31 to play in the second quarter.
Justin Reinier ran one yard for a touchdown to give Bakersfield a 28-0 lead with 1:32 to play in the half.
In the second half, the rain stopped but not the Renegades’ scoring. Zinck, who completed nine of 37 passes for 63 yards, had two passes intercepted and returned for touchdowns in the second half.
Edward Brown returned a pass 42 yards for a touchdown and Ernie Sanchez returned another 30 yards for a score.
Pierce (1-6, 0-3) had minus-29 yards rushing and punted eight times.
Brennan made nine tackles and Mario Chelsea had three sacks for Pierce.
