Portland State Knocks Weber State Out of Lead

Charles Dunn ran 38 yards for a touchdown with 2:59 to play Saturday night to give Portland State a 34-27 victory over No. 19 Weber State, knocking the Wildcats out of a tie for the Big Sky Conference lead.

Portland State (4-3, 4-2 in conference play) built a 27-3 lead in the first half but squandered it before rallying on the touchdown by Dunn, who had 166 yards, to move into second place.

Wade Davis of Weber State (5-3, 3-2) fumbled away a punt inside his 10-yard line with 1:35 left to finish the Wildcats.

Tyson Parsons, making his first start of the season, completed 11 of 16 passes in the first half for 180 yards and three touchdowns.

But Parsons let Weber State back into the game with an interception that Keenan Gordon returned 35 yards for a touchdown and another intercepted pass that set up Morgan Welch’s two-yard touchdown run.

Montana 30, Eastern Washington 27--Brian Ah Yat threw a 22-yard touchdown pass to Justin Olsen with 4:34 to play and the Grizzlies kept their title hopes alive at Spokane, Wash.

Montana (5-3, 3-2) held at its 30-yard line after a blocked punt and Nick Reynolds of Eastern Washington (3-4, 2-3) missed a late 47-yard field-goal attempt.

Cal State Sacramento 38, Northern Arizona 21--Charles Roberts rushed for a school-record 269 yards and two touchdowns for the Hornets in a victory at Flagstaff, Ariz.

Roberts broke Rob Harrison’s 12-year-old record of 268 yards set in 1986 against Southern Utah.

Cal State Sacramento (4-4, 2-3) won a conference game on the road for the first time in 11 games since joining the Big Sky in 1996.

Travis Brown threw two touchdown passes for Northern Arizona (4-4, 1-4).

Idaho State 50, Southern Utah 33--Freshman Jacori Rufus returned an interception a school-record 100 yards and the Bengals (2-5, 1-3) won a nonconference game at Pocatello, Idaho.
