A federal Bankruptcy Court judge in San Francisco has ordered the U.S. Export-Import Bank to return to Philippine Airlines Inc. two Boeing Co. 747-400s it seized while the airline was closed for two weeks. The order, issued by Judge Thomas E. Carlson, requires the Ex-Im Bank to return one 747-400 plane owned by PAL that was seized at Los Angeles International Airport last month after the airline shut down. The Ex-Im also must withdraw a letter it sent to a service company in Manila seizing a second 747 leased by PAL that was undergoing routine maintenance there. The U.S.-based credit agency plans to honor the ruling.
