If It’s So Super, Why Doesn’t It Hit the Shots?

The Koolau Golf Club in Honolulu is considered the toughest course in the United States, according to the Associated Press.

It’s a 7,310-yard layout with 80 large bunkers over six rain-carved ravines with a carry of 100-plus yards.

To help players, Koolau has installed the Par-View Global Positions System (GPS). The state-of-the-art “Information Superfairway” is a small monitor mounted in all the carts that can tell players where they are on a hole, and where they want to be.

Moreover, the system can place lunch and dinner orders for players approaching the ninth and 18th holes.

Half a team: Florida writers even trash their teams when they win. Here’s Greg Cote of the Miami Herald writing on the Dolphins’ 5-2 record after a 12-9 overtime victory over New England on Sunday:

“Traveling at the speed of soccer, not the fastest form of transportation around, the news may not have reached Chicago that there is a new champion in town. Really. No kidding.

“I was there. Happened in the Rose Bowl. About halftime of the Bears’ game. They got a real trophy and everything. I know it is a real trophy because it is too ugly to be a joke. I mean, bowlers would keep this thing out of sight.”
