Redell, St. Francis Feel at Home

Bill Redell was feeling a little nostalgic Friday night.

In his return to the scene of his greatest coaching triumphs, Redell witnessed his St. Francis squad dismantle his former school in impressive fashion.

Only this time it was Murice Law, not Russell White, doing most of the damage.

Law rushed for a season-high 211 yards and three touchdowns in 34 carries and the Golden Knights overpowered Crespi, 28-10, in a Mission League opener for both teams at Crespi.

“We wanted to make sure we could establish the run on them,” Redell said, “So we decided to run the ball a lot.”

That was obvious early in the first quarter, when Law carried on the first three plays for St. Francis (5-3, 1-0).

It finally paid off toward the end of the quarter when the Golden Knights mounted a 10-play, 80-yard drive and scored on Law’s 11-yard run on the first play of the second quarter.

Law provided most of the offense for St. Francis in the half, rushing for 109 yards in 22 carries.

Crespi (5-3, 0-1) finally scored late in the second quarter on a 44-yard field goal by Evan Driedger to make the score 7-3.

But it was more of the same in the third quarter for St. Francis, which went on a 12-play, 74-yard drive that ended with Law’s two-yard touchdown run for a 14-3 lead late in the period.

Early in the fourth quarter, Law finished off the Celts with a 53-yard touchdown run for a 21-3 lead.
