An anonymous caller who led police officers to two men suspected in a string of armed bank robberies has received a $650 cash reward, Port Hueneme authorities said Friday.

Following a tip that was telephoned to Crime Stoppers, Port Hueneme police officers and the FBI arrested Noah Bell and Daniel Beirne, both 19, in connection with three Ventura County bank holdups in July and August.

Bell and Beirne remained jailed Friday on suspicion of robbing California Federal and Washington Mutual bank branches in Port Hueneme, and a Santa Barbara Bank and Trust branch in Ventura, Port Hueneme Police Sgt. Ken Dobbe said.

In all three robberies, notes were used stating that one of the suspects had a gun and would harm the tellers if they didn’t comply, Dobbe said. A total of $6,200 was taken.

People who call the Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 385-TALK or the Port Hueneme Crime Stoppers at 986-TALK receive a personal identification number, officers said.

Crime Stoppers is a nationwide program that pays cash rewards for information leading to the arrest or filing of criminal charges against suspected criminals.
