Regis Homes Names New President

Joe Richter has been named president of Regis Homes L.P., an affiliate of the Sares-Regis Group in Irvine. He will be responsible for land acquisition, development and construction of homes from Ventura to San Diego. Richter joined the company in 1997 as a senior project manager. Before that, he was president of CCL Construction, vice president of construction for Southwest Diversified and vice president and project manager at Glenfed Development.

Duane Dickens has joined CardioVascular Dynamics Inc. in Irvine as vice president of research and development. He was most recently co-founder and vice president of new product development at Cardima Inc., and before that founded Rhythemetrix Inc. In addition, Bill Rigas was named vice president of worldwide sales. Rigas joined the company from Neuro Navigational Corp., where he was vice president of worldwide sales. He also has held various senior sales management positions at Intertherapy Corp., GE Medical Systems and Honeywell’s Biosound.

Thomas M. Kelly has been elected to the board of directors of Imagek Inc. in Costa Mesa, a subsidiary of Irvine Sensors Corp. Kelly recently retired from Eastman Kodak Co. after 29 years.

William A. Owens has joined the board of directors of Biolase Technology Inc. in San Clemente, a maker of laser-based systems for use in cosmetic surgery, dermatology and dentistry. He is vice chairman of the board of Teledesic, a satellite communications system that is a joint effort of Bill Gates of Microsoft, Craig McCaw and Motorola. Before that, he was chief operating officer and vice chairman of the board of Sciences Applications International Corp. Owens retired from the U.S. Navy in 1996, where he rose to the rank of four-star admiral and served as deputy chief of naval operations and vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Brian C. Collins has been named Western regional manager for Hubbell Lighting Inc., a manufacturer of commercial and industrial lighting products. He most recently was the Los Angeles district manager with the Hubbell Lighting Master Distribution Center in Anaheim.

Kerry Pickens has joined IXC Communications Inc. as vice president of sales for wholesale telecommunications services in the Western region. Pickens, based in Newport Beach, oversees customer accounts and manages the sales staff in the Western region. She formerly was with Sprint, where she was regional sales director.

Jim Lange has been appointed area sales manager for the Western U.S., Mexico and Northwestern Canada for TDK Semiconductor Corp. in Tustin. He succeeds Brian Truesdale, who was named director, worldwide sales. Lange had been district sales manager.

James L. Breen has joined Fisher Business Communications Inc. in Santa Ana as an account executive, public relations. Breen was a sports and business writer and editor at the Daily News in Los Angeles for 19 years. He has also held corporate public relations positions with Grubb & Ellis, Cushman & Wakefield and Prudential Real Estate, and worked at Amies Communications Inc.

Dawn M. Brodman has been named marketing director for the CDMA Development Group in Costa Mesa. She was marketing director with London-based Cibernet plc, a provider of financial settlement services. Brodman has also held management positions with Cibernet Corp., SNET Cellular Inc. and American Mobile Satellite Corp.

Greg Neville has been selected as chef for Tutto Mare Ristorante at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. Neville headed other Spectrum Foods restaurants in Northern California, including Spiedini in Walnut Creek and MacArthur Park in San Francisco and Palo Alto. He has also held executive chef positions in Il Fornaio and Ristorante Donatello in San Francisco.

Robert Bein, William Frost & Associates has appointed two new vice presidents in the Irvine office: Michael Bruz, vice president of public works/transportation engineering; and Greg Helmer, vice president of the land survey department.

Janine McDonald, an assistant vice president with Merit Property Management Inc., has been selected to head the company’s newly organized training and staff development program. She joined Merit in 1990 as an account executive.

Steven Willensky has been named president of Laguna Niguel-based Furon Co.’s Medex subsidiary in Columbus, Ohio. He had been vice president of marketing. Before joining Furon, Willensky was vice president, global marketing and product management, at General Electric.

Adrian Hoyle has been named vice president of operations for Bomel Construction Co. in Orange. He has been with the company for nine years, as senior project manager and district manager of the Las Vegas office.

Joseph Autem has joined iWoman Inc., a Newport Beach Internet electronic commerce company, as chief financial officer. He was chief financial officer of broadcast.com Inc., and remains a board member.

Mike Stoessl has been appointed president of Rosemount Analytical Inc.’s Uniloc division in Irvine. He was president of Hurst Manufacturing, a division of Emerson Electric.
