Woman Returns After Abduction

A 41-year-old Lancaster woman who was reported missing Tuesday night returned home Saturday after being abducted and held against her will for four days, authorities said.

Dianca Joy Pollard, a clerk at a market on Sierra Highway and Avenue M, left work Tuesday night and was to be driven home by an acquaintance, said Sgt. George Ducoulombier, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

“We still aren’t sure how they knew each other,” Ducoulombier said, “but, apparently, she felt comfortable enough to get in his car.”

Pollard knew the man’s first name but little else about him.

Over the next four days, the man allegedly took Pollard to several local motels and assaulted her. During the ordeal, she was kicked in the abdomen and forced to cash a personal check for $600, Ducoulombier said. Pollard tried to escape three times but failed.

On Friday, the man took her to an apartment near Avenue R and 10th Street East in Palmdale, where she spent the night. He left about 1 a.m. Saturday and had not returned by 8 a.m., when Pollard left and took a bus to the Lancaster home she shares with her sister.

Pollard was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she was treated for injuries to her abdomen.
