Bring Grandma and Grandpa along for a free Symphony in the Glen Grandparents Day Concert. The concert features an all-Mozart program with a musical tribute to grandparents with words written to a Mozart aria by maestro Arthur B. Rubinstein. A “Junior Maestro” conducting class, an appearance by the “Micester Singers” and more free children’s activities will precede the concert.

“The Last Empress,” Arts Communications Seoul Company’s internationally touring musical, comes to the Shubert Theatre. It’s based on the life of 19th century Empress Min, who led Korea through the turmoil of modernization, only to be assassinated in 1895.

The eclectic Abbot Kinney Boulevard Festival, named after Venice’s founder, will offer 200 booths of arts and crafts, art exhibitions, clothes, food from local restaurants, children’s activities and performances by live bands, such as Freshly Baked, Mongoose, Weapon of Choice and Venice.

Three Latino heartthrobs--Marco Antonio Solis, Carlos Ponce and Rosco--will attract fans spanning several generations to a free music event celebrating the independence of six Latin countries. From pop to country to folkloric, there will be tunes for everyone at La Fiesta de Independecia ‘98, organized by KLVE-FM and “La Nueva” 101.9 FM at Whittier Narrows Recreational Area. Also on the bill: mariachis, ballet folklorico dancers, prizes, exhibits, children’s activities, food and drink.
