Ornamental, My Dear

Share

Inspired by a European vacation to add a little of the Old World to your yard? Atelier Padley of Anaheim is ready to pave the way.

The company, which specializes in sculpture, bronze fixtures and architectural accents, has introduced antique-styled garden borders.

All are hand-casted in stone by owner Alan Padley and are available in three colors: terra cotta, limestone and gray. Each piece is about 10 by 6 inches and sells for $15.

The Parisian garden border (shown) is a reproduction of a design from 1750. Other styles include Acanthus Leaf, Roman Shell, Greek Antefix and Venetian Palace.

Atelier products are available at Roger’s Gardens in Corona del Mar, (949) 640-5800, and Thompson Building Materials in Orange, (714) 637-7373.

Go to the Mat

Got an auto that leaks? Does your garage floor or driveway resemble a small offshore oil spill? Don’t let engine drips flip you out.

Abzorb Oil Mat ($15.95, 3 by 3 feet; $19.95, 3 by 5 feet) can camouflage existing stains and prevent new ones. The charcoal-gray mat slides under a car, motorcycle or workbench and collects more than a gallon of fluid.

The durable material is guaranteed not to tear or disintegrate for three years. Disposing of the mess is easy, thanks to the non-penetrable backing.

Tray Chic

You may not be able to have breakfast at Tiffany’s, but you can serve it at home on this elegant Trellis tray.

The earthenware tray is hand-painted with interweaving blue, green and yellow accents ($65, 14 by 17 inches).

The trellis pattern is also available in dinner plates, mugs, a pitcher, vase, tea pot, sugar and creamer and other serving pieces and gift ware.

Tiffany & Co. is at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa (714) 540-5330.

Tip: If the shine has worn off a spot on an old Formica tabletop, use auto-body rubbing compound on the spot.
