3 Plead Not Guilty in Woman’s Death
Three men charged in connection with the shooting death of a 19-year-old woman pleaded not guilty Friday at the Justice Center in Westminster.
Em Van Nguyen and Hung Nguyen, both 20, were charged with the murder of Loan Tran. Vu Ann Ngo, 19, was charged as an accessory to the murder. All three were charged with weapons violations.
Tran was fatally shot about 3 a.m. Aug. 24 while riding in the back of a green Acura Legend. Authorities said she and friends had just eaten at a Garden Grove cafe and were heading west on the Garden Grove Freeway toward Long Beach.
A dark car pulled alongside them, authorities said, and someone fired three shots at the Acura. A bullet struck Tran in the head, and she died several hours later at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
