Two men barged into an apartment Saturday, restrained the residents and stole several valuables, police said.

The home-invasion robbery occurred about 12:30 p.m. at a second-story apartment on South Hurst Avenue, Ventura Police Sgt. Bob Velez said.

The residents, two 20-year-old men, were not injured. For unknown reasons, they reported the crime three hours after it occurred.

The robbers knocked on the front door, then barged in when one of the victims answered. While one robber detained the victims in the living room, the other ransacked the home, Velez said. The robbery took about 20 minutes, Velez said.

Officers said one of the robbers was armed with a knife.

The robbers fled to a blue, late-model Ford Explorer with tinted windows that was parked a block from the crime scene. The men carried pillow cases and luggage stuffed with items from the apartment, Velez said. Exactly what was stolen was not released.

One robber was described as black, in his late 20s, 5 feet 9 inches and 175 pounds. He has short black hair in a crew cut and was wearing a blue Dallas Cowboys jersey and tan pants. The other robber was Latino, in his late 20s, 5 feet 8 inches, 200 pounds and has brown hair. He was wearing a gray T-shirt and brown pants.

Anyone with information should call police at 339-4400.
