Anaheim City Council

* CONDO PLAN: The council will hold a public hearing to consider a proposal to build 40 condominiums on a nearly 5-acre parcel on South Knott Street at Ball Road. The developer needs a General Plan change because the parcel is zoned for commercial development.

The site is within the city’s West Anaheim Commercial Corridors Redevelopment Project Area.

Cypress City Council

* FUTURE GOALS: The council will hold a workshop to review a first draft of its strategic plan, which will outline a course for the city’s future, identifying a mission, goals and objectives.

In a regular session, the council will consider issuing an operating permit for a used auto sales and recreational vehicle storage yard on Lincoln Avenue. The council will decide if the proposed business is consistent with street revitalization plans.

Fullerton City Council

* SKATING BAN: The council will consider prohibiting skateboarding and roller-skating in the downtown area.

The Fullerton Police Department has received many complaints from residents and business owners, who say skateboarders and roller-skaters are a danger to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, according to reports. The ordinance would prohibit skateboarding and roller-skating on public streets, sidewalks, parking lots and other public property in the Central Business District.

Huntington Beach City Council

* WATERFRONT DECISIONS: The City Council will consider the Waterfront Expansion Development, a mammoth project by Newport Beach’s Robert Mayer Corp. to build a 516-room resort hotel, conference center and a residential complex. A third hotel, in addition to the existing Waterfront Hilton, is planned.

The development on Pacific Coast Highway has been promoted by city officials as an important source of new revenue for the city.

Placentia City Council

* EARTHQUAKE SAFE: The council will consider awarding a contract to EQE International Inc. to study what it would take to bring up the Civic Center, city corporation yard and library to the latest building codes for earthquake safety. The city would pay $26,000 for the seismic analysis, and Placentia Library would pay $14,000.
