College Names Head of Student Services
John Hernandez has been appointed Santa Ana College’s director of student services.
Hernandez held a variety of positions at the University of Maryland and American University in Washington.
He also worked for nine years as an outreach counselor and assistant dean of student affairs at Cal State Fullerton. He was a counseling assistant in the extended-oppor-
tunities program and services office at Fullerton College.
Hernandez, who will complete his doctoral studies in college student personnel administration at the University of Maryland in 1999, served as Hispanic coordinator for the university’s office of multiethnic student education from 1995 to 1997. There he coordinated programs and services to enhance personal, academic and social development for multiethnic students and a mentoring program for first-year Latino students.
