Olympic Swimmer to Discuss Character
An Olympic gold medalist will lecture on “Character and Sports” at Cal Lutheran University on Monday.
John Naber, who won four gold medals for swimming in the 1976 Olympics, believes that too many athletes compete only to win. He has said he wants to see the sports community return to athletics’ original values.
Now an announcer for ABC and ESPN, Naber also helped carry the Olympic flag during the opening ceremony for the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
The free 10 a.m. talk at the school’s Samuelson Chapel is part of the school’s Commitment to Character fall lecture series.
