A new “one-stop” employment and career center jointly funded by the county and city of Los Angeles celebrated its grand opening this week, offering a variety of free services to job seekers.

A grand opening for the Joint One-Stop Work Force Development Center was held Wednesday, said Eleanor Hoskins, chief executive of the Career Planning Center, a nonprofit job training company that will manage the new office.

Staff and services from many separate agencies are available under one roof, Hoskins said.

The regional facility provides thousands of job listings, resume preparation services, vocational assessment and training, interviewing and job search workshops, basic skills training and other services. Staff members from organizations ranging from the federal Labor Department to the Venice Skills Center are on hand to assist people, Hoskins said.

The center is at 13160 Mindanao Way, Suite 240, Marina del Rey, and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
