He has ridden mile after boring mile on a stationary bicycle, giving an ankle sprained during the first session of the first day of training camp time to heal.

“Not playing, not skating, I wasn’t feeling very good,” said King center Jozef Stumpel, who will play in his first exhibition game tonight at San Jose.

“It’s all been kind of boring.”

Stumpel, the King offensive leader with 79 points in 77 games last season, will skate tonight on a line with Vladimir Tsyplakov and Glen Murray.

He has skated for limited periods of time on his own and began practicing with the team Sunday.

“We’re just looking for him to get back into game shape,” Coach Larry Robinson said. “You can practice all you want, but until you play, you can’t get into game shape.”
