A project to be presented to the Planning Commission on April 7 will test the city’s business-friendly philosophy and ability to compromise, said development services specialist Jim Basham. A proposed contractor business on Monroe Avenue would require certain code exemptions, he said. The building on the 21,000-square-foot site is more than 30 years old and does not meet current codes.

“This is the first conditional use permit [sent] to the commission under these circumstances,” Basham said. Given the age of the building, the commission will have to compromise on certain lot improvements, he said; most of them will relate to landscaping. The commission meets at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers, 7800 Katella Ave. Information: (714) 379-9222.
