Staples Tickets Not Out of Line

Along with playoff packages that the standings say won’t be needed, Kings’ season-ticket holders have received news that, in many cases, next season’s seats at the new Staples Center won’t cost as much.

Tickets will range between $17.50 and $300 a game when bought as part of a season ticket, and $18.50 and $300 when bought on a per-game basis.

There was concern that the move to the new arena, whose price tag has risen to $370 million, was going to impact ticket-holders, but, for a season at least, that’s not going to happen.

“It is, and has always been, our intention to not price anybody out of our building,” King President Tim Leiweke said in a statement.

Detroit’s Todd Gill, a light-heavyweight give or take a pound or two, returned after 24 games off because of a broken arm, suffered when he was slashed by New Jersey’s Krzysztof Oliwa on Feb. 1, and 10:04 into his return found himself tangling with the Kings’ Steve McKenna, a 6-foot-8, 253-pound detriment to rehabilitation.

“Actually, I wanted to go with [Ian] Laperriere,” said Gill, laughing. “But he moved away, and the next thing I knew, there was a shadow over me.”

Both got fighting majors, and Gill got in a good right hand before they were separated.

The Kings recalled right wing Pavel Rosa from the Ice Dogs, for whom he had four goals in his last two games. Rosa played 21 games with the Kings earlier in the season, scoring four goals and getting 10 assists.
