City officials this week approved outdoor seating for a cafe after a long-running dispute. But owners of the coffeehouse said they face so many restrictions on the new permit that they may pursue more legal action. “We need to decide if it’s something we can live with,” said Lance LeCompte, co-owner of the Jabberwocky Java Coffeehouse Cafe on Los Alamitos Boulevard. Council members voted 3 to 1 to allow the outdoor service but said the cafe could have only 91 seats because of inadequate parking. The cafe now has 109 seats; the cut could mean a daily loss of $1,800, LeCompte said. The council also limited the cafe to serving beer and wine and said live music must be inside and acoustic, with no amplification.
