Assessor’s Satellite Office Opens Tuesday

With the second installment of Ventura County real estate taxes due Saturday, property owners in the east county can turn to the assessor’s new satellite office at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza.

Starting Tuesday, an employee from the assessor’s office will be available every week at Supervisor Frank Schillo’s office.

Nearly all of the services offered at the central office in Ventura will be available at the new site.

Assessor Dan Goodwin said the number of customers who use the satellite office will determine its future.

“This is a pilot program with very much a low budget until we can build some momentum,” he said.

A second once-a-week satellite office will be set up soon in Simi Valley, Goodwin said.

The Thousand Oaks office will be open Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The phone number is 373-2564. When the office is closed, questions should be directed to the assessor’s main office at 654-2181.
