Razov, Nowak Fuel Fire’s 4-1 Outburst

Ante Razov and Peter Nowak each scored two goals as the Chicago Fire continued its offensive explosion by beating the Miami Fusion, 4-1, Saturday before 8,854 at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Razov, Major League Soccer’s leading scorer with six goals, put the Fire ahead 1-0 in the second minute and Chicago peppered a weak Miami defense for three goals in the second half.

Chicago leads the league with 10 goals. Carlos Valderrama scored the Fusion’s goal in the 69th minute.

Washington 1, New York/New Jersey 0--Roy Lassiter scored the only goal of the match two minutes into the second half before 20,978 at East Rutherford, N.J.

The goal came moments after Lassiter had missed wide left on a cross from Jaime Moreno.

Columbus 3, Tampa Bay 2--Brian McBride headed home a corner kick from Robert Warzycha in the 83rd minute to lift the Crew before 13,456 at Tampa, Fla.

Stern John and Todd Yeagley also scored as Columbus bounced back after being shut out, 1-0, by New York/New Jersey in last week’s opener.

Steve Ralston and Musa Shannon scored for Tampa Bay.

New England 1, Kansas City 0--Joe-Max Moore scored his first goal of the season and Walter Zenga made seven saves for the Revolution before 8,313 at Kansas City, Mo.

The Wizards, whose record scoreless streak reached 550 minutes, have been shut out in all three games this season and have not scored since Sept. 5.

Moore scored in the 40th minute off a cross from defender Mike Burns.
