Since 1996, seven parks have been given new playground equipment and funds have been budgeted to make over several others next year. Veeh Ranch Park’s $300,000 face lift is underway now. It’s all part of officials’ plan to bring a greater sense of community to the area.

Most of the parks have baseball or soccer fields, and the city has its own sports teams. Veeh Ranch Park, on Santa Victoria Drive, will have a basketball court, picnic tables and plenty of lighting. The city also has earmarked $22.5 million for a massive community center and sports complex in an effort to keep its residents from using facilities in other cities.
