Lue Ready to Make Most of Opportunity

Rookie point guard Tyronn Lue, activated earlier this week off the injured list, says that, whatever playing time he gets, he’ll try to emphasize his speed and full-court game.

“They want me to come in and push the ball, make guys around me better, just do everything I did in college,” said Lue, a Nebraska product, before finishing with 12 points and six assists in 23 minutes Tuesday against Utah.

Said Laker Coach Kurt Rambis: “He does an incredible job in practice in pushing the basketball. At times when we might be struggling offensively and not running or getting out, he gives us an opportunity to get into the ballgame and really create an uptempo situation for us.”

Lue will play behind both Derek Harper and Derek Fisher, but might see some action when the team needs an offensive pick-me-up or when a quicker point guard such as Sacramento’s Jason Williams, is giving them problems.

“Probably when the team comes out flat and needs some energy, they’ll put me in there for a couple minutes and let me try to get everybody going,” Lue said.

Divorce papers, according to Rodman’s public relations agency, were filed Tuesday by Electra.
