Officials are proposing 45 new projects worth $19 million over the next fiscal year to improve city buildings, streets, sewers and infrastructure. City employees also will continue working on 71 projects ongoing from previous years. City Council members got a first look at the seven-year, $112-million capital improvement plan Tuesday as part of the budget planning process. Major projects include street widenings at Glassell Street and La Veta Avenue and Chapman Avenue at Main Street. Most of the funding comes from grants, gas taxes, fees and various state aid programs, with just $2.6 million coming from city coffers next year, said City Manager David L. Rudat.
