Dialing to Spend Dollars

All people have times when they’re too busy or too tired to shop. But in Los Angeles, there are also days when some individuals feel just a tad too famous to shop. QVC is definitely not the answer to quell a craving for something new and tasty that’s as satisfying as the offerings at Ron Herman on Melrose, the popular purveyor, if not the originator, of what the rest of the world thinks of as L.A. style.

Ron Herman Red Phone to the rescue. The lazy consumer can place a call to the Ron Herman stores on Melrose or in Brentwood, and a savvy salesperson will pack a van full of clothes and deliver them to a shopper’s home or office. While there’s no charge for the service, the average Red Phone shopper shows his or her gratitude by spending from $5,000 to $10,000 during a house call.

“Most people figure that if they’re going to be participating with us on that level of service, they’re going to be shopping pretty seriously,” said Herman’s Brett Wagner, who initiated the big-spender perk. “Most of the Red Phone customers have an intimate relationship with a salesperson in one of our stores, so the fact that we have prior knowledge of what they wear and want makes the shopping experience much easier.” And oh so much more private.
