In another Foothill League game:

Valencia 8, Saugus 6--Chris Cornell hit a two-run home run with none out in the eighth inning to lift the Vikings (9-6-1, 1-4-1) at Saugus.

Cornell and Richie Martin each had two hits for Valencia. Martin also homered.

Rick Pistone hit a two-run home run for Saugus (8-6-1, 3-2-1) in the seventh to tie the score, 6-6. Tom Nelson had three hits for the Centurions.

In other games:

Granada Hills 14, Birmingham 2--Peter Tuber hit two home runs and a double and had six RBIs for the Highlanders (11-3, 4-1), ranked No. 8 in the region by The Times, in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Tuber (3-1), who pitched a four-hitter and struck out three, hit a grand slam in the Highlanders’ eight-run fourth inning.

Jon Bringuier had two hits and three RBIs, and Jeremy Rooney had two doubles and three RBIs.

El Camino Real 7, Kennedy 1--Scott Gilmore had three hits, including a home run, and the Conquistadores won a Northwest Valley Conference game at El Camino Real.

Ryan Gunches of El Camino Real (12-2, 5-1) pitched a four-hitter and did not allow an earned run.

Cleveland 8, Taft 2--Tony Cicero had two hits, including a triple, and drove in a run for the Cavaliers (7-7, 3-2) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Taft.

Justin Wade had two hits for Taft (4-10, 0-5).

Grant 6, Van Nuys 1--Michael Marble and Felipe Tetelboin each had a triple and a home run, and Frank Amaya (5-0) pitched a four-hitter for the Lancers in a Mid-Valley League victory at Van Nuys.

Marble’s two-run homer in seventh gave the Lancers (9-3, 3-0) a 6-1 lead.

Monroe 13, North Hollywood 5--Vladimir Rivas hit a grand slam and Vince Vargas had two hits, including a triple, for the Vikings (2-9, 1-4) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference victory at Monroe.

Camarillo 11, San Marcos 1--Eric Foster hit two run-scoring doubles and an RBI single for the Scorpions, who notched their ninth consecutive victory in a Channel League Challenge tournament game at Camarillo.

Foster doubled in the fourth and fifth innings and singled in the third.

Geoff Buchanon added two hits and two RBIs for Camarillo (13-2), ranked No. 10 in the region.

Oxnard 14, Dos Pueblos 4--Omari Parker had four hits and drove in four runs with two two-run doubles for the Yellowjackets in a Channel League Challenge tournament game that was called after six innings because of the 10-run rule at Oxnard.

Paul McAnulty added three RBIs with three hits, including a two-run double, and scored four runs for the Yellowjackets (4-8).

Buena 5, Peninsula 4--Nate Pierce drove in the winning run with a two-out single in the sixth for the Bulldogs (4-9) in a Channel League Challenge tournament game at Buena.

Chris Olsen and Mike Smith each had two hits and Kyle Loughman hit his second home run for Buena.

Justin Vaughn (1-0) allowed four hits in five-plus innings and Ponch Ortiz picked up his third save.

Simi Valley 12, Rancho Verde 8--Chris Ferguson, Winston Cuan and Eric Peach each drove in two runs for the Pioneers (5-8) in the Chino tournament.

Ferguson had three hits and Cuan and Peach each had two. Peach hit a two-run homer in the fifth to give the Pioneers a 12-7 lead.

Hueneme 3, Alemany 1--David Schoonmaker (1-4) pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and drove in a run to help the Vikings (6-5) win a San Luis Obispo tournament semifinal.

Schoonmaker (1-4) lost his no-hit bid on a bloop single in the sixth by Joe Fama.

The Vikings (6-5) will play El Segundo in the championship game at 4 p.m. today.

Calabasas 3, Nordhoff 2--Anthony Lizaola’s one-out home run in the sixth lifted the Coyotes (6-6, 3-1) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.

Lizaola finished with three hits, including a double, and Calabasas’ Tony Sulser struck out nine and scattered seven hits.

Nordhoff is 6-4, 4-1.

Burbank 8, San Gabriel 7--Ronny Mendez, who hit a three-run homer in the fifth, doubled in the winning run in the eighth to lift the Bulldogs (3-8-1) in a nonleague game at Burbank.

Fillmore 2, Providence 0--Senior Aaron Goodenough (1-0) pitched a three-hitter with two strikeouts and one walk in his first pitching appearance for the Flashes (7-1-1) in a nonleague victory at Fillmore.

Danny Barajas pitched a five-hitter for Providence (6-7).
