The City Council recently voted 5 to 0 to vacate excess rights-of-way at 2136 Raleigh Ave., 2135 Sterling Ave. and 2136 Wallace Ave. so that the properties can be sold. The three properties were left over from the widening of Victoria Street and are being sold as surplus properties, but the council first had to vacate them. The Raleigh and Sterling properties are being sold to private developers, and the Redevelopment Agency is negotiating to give the Wallace property to Habitat for Humanity for an affordable housing project.
