Simi Valley Police Searching for Missing 22-Year-Old

Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a pregnant 22-year-old who has been missing for more than two weeks.

Lindsay Wells, who is nine months pregnant and due to deliver her baby Saturday, was last seen March 29 asleep in her bed at the Granby Avenue home she shares with her fiance and his mother.

John Tait said his fiancee, who had been seen by his mother, Donna Tait, that morning, was not home when he returned at noon. Tait said he thought Wells was running errands, but her family and friends tell police they have not seen Wells since.

It was later learned that Wells had missed a 9 a.m. meeting with her local welfare office that day and a doctor’s appointment the next day. Tait reported Wells missing to police on March 31.

Since then, “she missed her baby shower. She missed three doctors’ appointments,” Tait said. “I’ve been a wreck.”

Wells, who wears braces, is 5-foot-11 with light brown hair that she often wears pinned up.

Simi Valley Police Det. John Parks said there is no reason to suspect foul play. A phone tip that Wells was seen at a convenience store at Sycamore Drive and Royal Avenue on March 31 is considered to be reliable, he said.

“She didn’t appear to be under any duress or in any trouble,” Parks said.

Wells seems to have taken only her wallet and keys, leaving behind her identification and her engagement ring, which Tait said she took off because of swelling in her fingers during her pregnancy. Wells, who does not have a car, has not returned to the home to pick up her most recent welfare check.

Tait said his relationship with Wells has been going well and that Wells has not contacted either her mother or her 4-year-old daughter from another relationship, who lives with her father.
