Police Commission Post Gets 100 Applicants

Los Angeles Police Commission President Edith Perez said Tuesday that 100 people have applied to become the board’s next inspector general.

The deadline to apply was last Friday, but some applications postmarked on that date continue to come in, and the number of candidates might grow, officials said. The names of the applicants have not been publicly released.

A blue-ribbon search committee of community and business leaders will soon review the applicants’ packages and select finalists to be interviewed.

The commission’s previous inspector general, Katherine Mader, resigned under pressure from the board late last year. City officials said they hope to select a new inspector general by mid-May.
