Police on Wednesday continued to search for the man who allegedly ambushed O.J. Simpson at gunpoint this week in the parking lot of a Griffith Park golf course.

“There are no new developments at this point. Detectives are following up on the information Mr. Simpson gave them,” LAPD spokesman Willie Guerrero said.

Simpson, 51, told police that the man attempted to rob him about 4 p.m. Tuesday as he was sitting in his car taking off his golf shoes. Simpson said he and the assailant got into a scuffle and Simpson bit the man’s hand. Simpson said he cut his hand, apparently on the gun.

After the scuffle the man fled in a car, according to Simpson’s account.

The assault is being investigated by LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division. Anyone with information was asked to call police at (213) 485-2511.
